Rolle, Richard (de Hampole)
( 1300, Thornton, Yorkshire, Inglaterra–29 sep. 1394, Hampole, Yorkshire).

Místico inglés. Desilusionado de los temas que se enseñaban, interrumpió sus estudios en la Universidad de Oxford antes de poder obtener un título, y se convirtió en un ermitaño. Decidió escribir en lengua vernácula para que su obra fuera accesible a las mujeres. En sus textos exalta las virtudes de la vida contemplativa y el éxtasis de la unión mística con Dios. Se cree que hacia el final de su vida se desempeñó como consejero espiritual de las monjas de Hampole.
